The idea is simple: one week with various robotics related activities across Europe
targeting the general public to highlight the growing importance of robotics. The aim
is to have several events dedicated to robotics throughout Europe within this week for
the benefit of the general public and school kids of all ages, such as open houses,
lab tours, exhibitions, workshops / public talks / discussions, targeted educational
reach-out-activities (at schools, kindergardens, ….), challenges / competitions,  or
whatever the robotics institutions across Europe can come up with and are willing to
organise.

松下公司的Evolta机器人将于10月23日参加夏威夷举行的铁人三项比赛。机器人将在230公里的路程上完成自行车、游泳和跑步三个项目比赛，只使用三节充电电池（充电时间计入总时间）。松下工程师的为机器人专门设计辅助设备（如图）完成自行车、游泳和跑步的任务，由于Evolta的身高只有成人的十分之一，因此计划用一周时间完成整个路程。

人工智能的历史源远流长，很早人类就试图用机器来代替人的部分脑力劳动。公元前850年，古希腊就有制造机器人帮助人们劳动的神话传说。公元前 900多年，我国也有歌舞机器人传说的记载，这说明古代人就有人工智能的幻想。17世纪法国物理学家和数学家 B.Pascal制成了世界上第一台会演算的机械加法器并获得实际应用。随后德国数学家和哲学家G.W.Leibniz在这台加法器的基础上发展并制成了 进行全部四则运算的计算器。他还提出了逻辑机的设计思想，即通过符号体系，对对象的特征进行推理，这种“万能符号”和“推理计算”的思想是现代化“思考” 机器的萌芽，因而他曾被后人誉为数理逻辑的第一个奠基人。(...)

As the new year starts, the new RoboCup is coming. The RoboCup 2011 will be in Istanbul, Turkey (July 5-11, 2011).

Our team (Nao Team Humboldt) simulation 3D team is pre-qualified this year, and our SPL team is qualified again after one year. Having two teams in RoboCup will be fun!

Google真是对什么都想插足，对于月球和机器人也有兴趣。2007年，Google设立了奖金3000万美元的 Lunar X PRIZE，要求是在2015年之前把机器人降落到月球表面并行走500米的队伍，当然还要将图片传回到地球。第一个完成任务的团队将获得2000万美元。不过从2013年开始，第一名的奖金将蒋到1500万美元。目前已经有20多个团队注册参赛。(...)
