在《超级魔鬼经济学》这本畅销书中，作者非常庆幸，同时又非常得意地讲了一个关于马车的故事。今天反感汽车尾气的人可能会认为马车这种纯天然的交通 工具更环保一点，但历史上马车其实是个环境灾难。在没有汽车的时代，马车是城市交通的主力，越是发达的城市就越需要马车。然而跟机器相比，马是有自己的想 法的，所以马车其实很容易失控。不但如此，如果一匹马垮倒在街头，通常你唯一的办法就是把它当场杀死，然后要等它的尸体腐烂以后才能被切块清除。这一切都 使得马车造成的交通堵塞比今天汽车要严重得多。这还不算马粪！纽约市曾在1898年召开国际会议研究马粪问题，结论是根本没办法。

Recently, algorithms inspired by these models have been proposed to solve difficult computational problems.</p>
<p>An example of a particularly successful research direction in <span class='wp_keywordlink_affiliate'><a href="http://airobot.org/blog/tag/swarm/" title="查看 swarm 中的全部文章" target="_blank">swarm</a></span> intelligence is <strong>ant colony optimization</strong>, the main focus of which is on discrete optimization problems. Ant colony optimization has been applied successfully to a large number of difficult discrete optimization problems including the traveling salesman problem, the quadratic assignment problem, scheduling, vehicle routing, etc., as well as to routing in telecommunication networks. Another interesting approach is that of <strong>particle <span class='wp_keywordlink_affiliate'><a href="http://airobot.org/blog/tag/swarm/" title="查看 swarm 中的全部文章" target="_blank">swarm</a></span> optimization</strong>, that focuses on continuous optimization problems. Here too, a number of successful applications can be found in the recent literature. <strong>Swarm robotics</strong> is another relevant field. Here, the focus is on applying <span class='wp_keywordlink_affiliate'><a href="http://airobot.org/blog/tag/swarm/" title="查看 swarm 中的全部文章" target="_blank">swarm</a></span> intelligence techniques to the control of large groups of cooperating autonomous robots.</p>
<p>ANTS 2012 will give researchers in swarm intelligence the opportunity to meet, to present their latest research, and to discuss current developments and applications.</p>

人工智能的历史源远流长，很早人类就试图用机器来代替人的部分脑力劳动。公元前850年，古希腊就有制造机器人帮助人们劳动的神话传说。公元前 900多年，我国也有歌舞机器人传说的记载，这说明古代人就有人工智能的幻想。17世纪法国物理学家和数学家  B.Pascal制成了世界上第一台会演算的机械加法器并获得实际应用。随后德国数学家和哲学家G.W.Leibniz在这台加法器的基础上发展并制成了 进行全部四则运算的计算器。他还提出了逻辑机的设计思想，即通过符号体系，对对象的特征进行推理，这种“万能符号”和“推理计算”的思想是现代化“思考” 机器的萌芽，因而他曾被后人誉为数理逻辑的第一个奠基人。(...) 阅读全文： 人工智能和人机大战简史
